No rides were allowed to operate until now, which will start with the park’s full reopening on May 14th. Six Flags New England will continue to offer the Dinosaur walk through until May 23rd as previously announced. Additionally, the park’s Xpedition Dino attraction will transform into Xpedition Dino: Survival, another new haunted maze. Six Flags has announced that they have received approval to reopen Six Flags Great America on April 24th, followed by the reopening of Hurricane Harbor Chicago on May 29th. Additionally, the property will be separating Hurricane Harbor Chicago into a separately gated attraction, making it the company’s 27th park. The same safety precautions in place at already operating Six Flags theme parks will be used at both Six Flags Great America and Hurricane Harbor Chicago. Designed to allow visitors to celebrate the park’s festive atmosphere from the safety of their own vehicle, the Drive-Thru Experience will still show off the park’s million plus lights, decorations and holiday fun.
Plus, the Lil’ Devil Coaster will debut to guests this fall, located near the park’s new star ride, the Jersey Devil Coaster. If true, good move on the park’s part! The show will take place on weekends in September as part of the Member & Season Pass Appreciation Month. Also, during the month of September there will be Frightworks, a dazzling display of fireworks set to spooktacular music. Six Flags Great Adventure is excited to announce their line up of attractions and spooky fun for this year’s Fright Fest, which kicks off on September 10th. This year Fright Fest returns after taking a season off, bigger and better than before with new attractions, returning haunts, family fun during the day, live shows (like the fan-favorite Dead Man’s Party) and more. Shows include the Arrival Ghoul Parade, The Awakening, Dead Man’s Party: Grave Stories, Unleashed, Blood Drums and Doc Swan’s Sideshow of Oddities. Haunted Mazes, which require an additional fee, will see the return of Reflections of the Dead, Fears, The Manor, Big Top Terror: Forgotten Carnival 3-D, Blood Shed, Wicked Woods and Aftermath.
One attraction that was done several years ago is making a return this year, much to the pleasure of Haunt fans like myself. A fan favorite, Hersheypark announced some new family rides for 2014, Falcon’s Fury started to head toward the sky in Tampa, and large magnetic mailbox covers Cedar Fair gave an interesting update to investors which was filled with goodies for park fans. The man identified as Dylan started to take advantage of Six Flags Magic Mountain’s annual pass in 2014 when he was working as an intern in an office minutes away from the amusement park, WKRC reported. Flags Plus, Inc. was started in 1952. Always a family owned business, a larger facility was needed as we grew. The event will present family fun in the form of a Fire and Ice Light Show, the Frosty Snow Hill, Fire and Ice Marketplace, cocktails at a Fire Bar and Ice Bar, Fire Pits with s’mores, a new Dancing Fountain Show, photo ops, special food offerings and more. It looks like the Fire & Ice concept scored well, as Six Flags Over Texas is the first park to announce it. As we move into the real winter months we have a new festival announced for Six Flags Over Texas, named the Fire & Ice Winter Festival.
As Six Flags in general moves toward keeping its parks open more days out of the year, I’m sure we’ll see other versions of this festival (and perhaps even different ones) at more parks soon. As for the delay, one can easily speculate that Six Flags in general will be conserving cash for the foreseeable future due to the pandemic, but there are also rumors popping up that the ride was ordered without a turntable station, which limited capacity greatly. The rumors say that the ride will but outfitted with a turntable so a second boat can be used, causing the delay. The second half of the ride will finish with two high speed helices connected by a “extreme” airtime hill. Get a 2 toned mug, the actual cup is actually half someone coloration as well as half the many other… Get known as someone who shares real value with people, and you will find that they will not run or ignore you when you are around. A brand new haunted maze will also debut this year, named The Lab.
